The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has urged a political group – Osun Progressives (TOP) to remove their doubts about the party’s Congress, effective July 31.
The party assured that the Congress will take place in a peaceful and transparent way for everyone in the APC.
This was announced in a statement signed on Thursday by the party’s director of Advertising, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi.
The party pointed out that those who take pleasure in criticizing the leadership of the Party and the government are creating confusion.
He said: “Osun progressives, as they are known, should be honest and stop their crazy lies against the party, claiming that the APC did not embrace other stakeholders.
“Meetings were held at various levels in the districts, state and local governments regarding Congress. And all in the open air. Where did TOP expect the meetings to take place? And who is marginalizing whom?
“TOP also rejected a consensus agreement to select party leaders at all levels. But we ask: why? if the system is constitutionally approved in accordance with article 20 of the APC Constitution. APC is a solid match and TOP should not attempt a division where it does not exist.
Osun progressives had disassociated themselves from the consensus agreement, claiming it was a way to sell Osun APC to Gboyega Oyetols Governor Ileri Oluwa’s group, without acknowledging the sentiments of other members.
