The Popular Democratic Party, PDP, has pledged to do everything legitimately possible to win the gubernatorial elections in Anambra state, scheduled for 2021.
This is how the party ruled out zoning the candidacy for governor to any of the three senatorial districts.
Speaking on behalf of the party at a press conference on Friday, the party’s National Vice President (Southeast) Austin Umahi said the party will work the entire distance to return to power in the state.
“I want to tell you that we are determined to recover the Government House of Anambra. I don’t know the zoning arrangement we’re talking about, but we’ll make sure a credible candidate emerges in a free and fair primary, because the most important thing is to occupy Government House.
“I want to be a zone president who goes to Government House, not one who is visiting someone’s house. I want to enter the Government House and we are going to do it, ”said Umahi.
The PDP also warned those who have the habit of taking the party to court whenever they desist from doing so, saying that “on the issue of litigation, we clearly said that anyone who deviates from the decision of the National Labor Committee will be sanctioned. because it is necessary to instill discipline so that this party advances ”.
Meanwhile, the National Labor Committee led by Prince Uche Secondus has affirmed the decision of the Southeast Zonal Labor Committee to recognize Hon. Ndubuisi Nwobu as president of the PDP Anambra State Chapter.
A statement signed by the party’s national secretary, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, ordered party members to “recognize and enter into official party business with the Anambra State Chapter through the State Labor Committee.” He also called for the dissolution of all parallel executive bodies of the party in the state.
The party’s Southeast Zone Committee in its resolution asked Chukwudi Umeaba “and all his fellow travelers to immediately close the illegal State Party Office, opened in Awka, which contravenes section 58 of our Party’s constitution, they embrace the peace and partner with Hon Sir Ndubisi Nwobu to advance the Party in Anambra state. “
