On Thursday, famous Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, reached out to his fans on Instagram for help in navigating what appears to be a challenging period for the 62-year-old.
This request comes just a year after Hanks, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, assured everyone of his well-being and even hinted at presidential ambition.
Known for his roles in iconic films such as ‘Broad Daylight’ (2001) and ‘Formidable Force’ (2002), Hanks has been in the headlines recently due to concerns about his mental health. He is often seen disheveled and wandering the streets.
On Thursday, in a video posted on his Instagram page, the actor directly asked for financial support.
He expressed his gratitude to his fans and the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.
“I’ve done everything I can to maintain my status as an artist, so it’s good to tell you what I’m going through. I have a family and I would love all your help,” she said.
Highlighting the urgency of his situation, the actor revealed his bank account details and emphasized that he would appreciate any amount sent to him.

He said: “I will address my fans and those who truly love me, including my governor and my sheriff. I have worked for this country and have reached the height of being called a legend. I have no doubt, only God knows how many years, and I hope Nigerians know that I did it all for them. I’m just going to ask, please, Governor Sherrif and my fans, to send me support; I pray to God to help you help me.”
This comes a day after the actor was seen in a video at a petrol station in Asaba, Delta State, where he was heard expressing admiration for a woman. But the rest of his speech was incoherent, compounding questions about his mental health.
Hanks, who was Special Adviser on Tourism and Entertainment in Delta State, moved to Ghana in 2014. He later returned to Nigeria.
