The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of being a ritualist for the alleged gruesome murder of his neighbor in the state’s Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA).

DSP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), revealed this in a statement Monday in Bauchi.

Wakil said police officers from the Alkaleri division arrested Hamza Musa, the 22-year-old man, for the gruesome murder of his 17-year-old neighbor, Adamu Ibrahim, in wake village, Alkaleri LGA.

“On 12/21/2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., detectives from the Alkaleri Division Police Headquarters arrested a certain Musa Hamza, who lured a certain Adamu Ibrahim from the same address to the outskirts of the forest of the town and killed him with a stick.

“The victim was beheaded, both eyes were removed and his body burned,” he said.

The police spokesman said the culprit buried his victim’s body parts separately in a shallow grave in a nearby bush.

According to him, the police investigated and exhumed all the buried human parts and took the body parts to Alkaleri General Hospital for a medical examination.

“We discovered that the two eyes removed by the culprit were recovered from the main suspect.

“The main suspect voluntarily confessed to having committed the crime,” and said that a ritualist asked him to bring his eyes to the ritual that would allow him to be rich, “Wakil said.

The police spokesman further said that they recovered a knife, an mp3 player, a pair of rubber shoes and a lighter as a display of the suspect.

“The investigation is ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged in court for prosecution and conviction,” he said.

Wakil urged the general public to be safety conscious when reporting any suspicious movements in their neighborhood.
