The police command in Niger arrested four human-headed people in Sabon Pegi, Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.
State Police Commissioner Adamu Usman revealed this in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
Usman said the police operation attached to the Ibbi Police Division arrested the suspects in possession of a human head in the village of Sabon Pegi on October 3 at approximately 5:30 p.m.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspects exhumed and cut off the human head from the Kanti village cemetery,” he said.
He said that in the course of questioning, the suspects said they were hired to carry out the act by two people identified as Nasiru and Mohammadu, now at large.
“The suspects told us that Nasiru lives in Koko city in Kebbi state, while Mohammadu lives in Sabon Pegi in Niger state,” he said.
The commissioner said the case was still under investigation and that police had begun searching for other fleeing suspects.
