Plateau police foiled an attempt by gunmen to kidnap Yakubu Sanda, the speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, an official said.
The public relations officer for the police in Plateau, Alfred Alabo, revealed this in a statement on Sunday in Jos.
According to Mr. Alabo, the incident occurred on Friday night at the Spokesman’s residence in the federal low-cost, Jos South local government area of the state.
He said it took the courage of the security men guarding the speaker’s residence and the timely intervention of other policemen from the Rantya Division to thwart the attempt.
“At around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, as the president was arriving at his residence at Federal Low-cost in Jos-sur, three unidentified armed men operating in an ash-colored CRV jeep followed him to his residence and attempted to enter. to his house. to kidnap him.

“However, the command is making a concerted effort to track down fleeing suspects and arrest them,” he said.
Mr. Alabo said that State Police Commissioner Bartholomew Onyeka, who has vowed to stem the wave of criminal activity in the state, thanked members of the public for providing timely information on security breaches in their various communities to the police for their prompt action.
He urged residents to continue their legal business as the police were already doing a lot to ensure everyone’s safety.
