Police Command in Delta recovered a stolen SUV and AK 47 rifle from suspected criminals on Saturday in two separate operations in the state.
Acting police public relations officer Delta Command, DSP Edafe Bright, revealed this in a statement in Warri.
Bright said the truck was recovered July 23 by the police team attached to the Ebrumede Division near Warri.
“The DPO, Ebrumede Division, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, while at a stop and search service with a crack team attached to the Division, stopped a vehicle for search, but the driver refused to stop and sped away quickly.
“The DPO quickly led the crack team and went after the vehicle.
“The occupants of the vehicle, realizing that the police would not yield, abandoned the Toyota RAV4 Jeep with the Lagos registration EPE 949 FF and fled,” he said.
Bright said a passkey was recovered from the vehicle.
He added that the investigation later revealed that the Jeep was stolen from where it was parked on July 23.
He also noted that the police had started a manhunt for the fleeing criminals.
