Ajax soccer star Quincy Promnes has been arrested for stabbing a relative during a family party in Holland.

De Telegraaf reports that the 28-year-old Dutch footballer was arrested by the police on Sunday for the incident at the end of July.

According to the report, the victim, who is also a relative, was seriously injured after a fierce argument broke out between them at a family party at a warehouse in Abcoude, on the outskirts of Amsterdam.

Confirming his arrest, police spokesman Jelmer Geerds said the 28-year-old was arrested after some investigations were carried out in the case.

“We only found out about the incident a month ago.

“So an investigation was launched and this morning led to an arrest.

“The crime of ‘assault causing serious bodily injury’ carries a maximum jail sentence of four years if the defendant is convicted,” Geerds said.

Promes, joined Ajax from Sevilla last year on a £ 14m deal after playing for Twente, Go Ahead Eagles and Spartak Moscow.
