Cross River Governor Professor Ben Ayade told churches in the state Monday night to schedule their Dec. 31 Cross Over services within the allotted time, as the 6:00 a.m. curfew. at 10:00 pm it was still in effect.
This was disclosed in a statement signed Monday evening by the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Rev. Fr. Bob Etta and addressed to all churches in the state, Block Chief, Head of Churches, Religious Leaders , among others.
The statement read in part: “Merry Christmas to you, may the Peace of the Child King reign in our homes and families.
“Aware of the recent increase in the number of COVID19 cases in the country and of the need to maintain a better security situation in the state, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade, Governor of the State of Cross River, has directed thus:
“The current curfew between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am is still in effect. Churches must arrange their Cross Over services within the time allowed
Churches should enforce established protocols for COVID19 by wearing a face mask in public places of worship, washing hands, and using hand sanitizer
Together, he says, we have a responsibility to keep our state safe and protect our families.
“We thank the Nigerian Christian Association CRS for the great support in this fight. I wish you and your families a new year filled with God’s blessings, ”the statement said.
