The House of Representatives has committed to tracking all abandoned projects in the country to ensure their completion.
Rep. Makki Abubakar, chairman of the House ad hoc committee on abandoned projects, said this in Abuja on Thursday.
“The committee was created to investigate capital projects executed, financed and repeated in the Appropriation Law,” he said.
He said there were many projects abandoned in the annual budgets spread across the country.
Abubakar said the committee would hire the services of consultants to help track and aggregate all abandoned projects in the country.
Committee member Representative Francis Ottah Agbo (PDP-Benue) noted that there were many duplicate projects in the country.
According to him, the sad thing about the whole thing is that the reports from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) are different from those on the ground.
He said the committee will ensure that such projects are identified and completed through parliamentary interventions.
