The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) says the continued invitation of the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, by the Directorate of the State Security Service (DSS), is so dehumanizing as shameful to his person.
The PDP’s national chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus, said this in a statement issued by his media assistant, Mr. Ike Abonyi, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Secondus said the continued invitation was disrespectful of Mailafia’s status and did not take into account his contributions to the country’s development.
He said he viewed the continued invitation as harassment from Mailafia, which served Nigeria at such a high level, and urged DSS to accommodate dissenting views on the issues.
He said that the good ingredients of democracy are that citizens must have a say on any issue.
Secondus noted that such an invitation would discourage people from expressing their views on national issues.
However, he said that no pressure would dissuade people from expressing their feelings on national issues.
