According to Delia Ferreira Rubio, Chair of Transparency International, “Corruption is much more likely to flourish where democratic foundations are weak and, as we have seen in many countries where undemocratic and populist politicians can use it to their advantage.” Corruption is much more likely to flourish in places where democratic foundations are weak.
The most recent corruption perceptions index assigns a score out of 100 to each country in the world, with 0 indicating the most corrupt and 100 indicating the cleanest. Seychelles, Botswana, Cabo Verde, Rwanda, Namibia, and Mauritius are six countries in Africa that recorded above 50% and are among the transparent nations in the world. Other African countries that recorded above 50% include Namibia and Mauritius.
With a score of 10, Somalia is regarded as the most corrupt nation in the world, while Denmark is regarded as the most clean nation with a score of 88.
