Speak up for women in the new role of the UN

Nigerian artist Yemi Alade has vowed to lend her voice to vulnerable people, including women, after she took on a new role at the UN.

Yemi was named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Wednesday.

In her video message, she said that the agency’s core mission fully aligns with hers.

“It is an honor to be named a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the UNDP program, an agency whose core mission fully aligns with mine, to end poverty and erase all forms of gender inequality.”

He also said that he would focus on those suffering the socioeconomic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Yemi said she was willing to offer innovative solutions to different problems.

She said: “Women are among the 4 billion people who are trying to survive Covid-19 without any form of social protection.
