Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike

Lagos-based media team Sportsville has announced plans to hold its inaugural Sportsville awards ceremony on January 30, 2021.

The event is one that the media team that has its programs running on different television stations across the country would use to honor some very distinguished Nigerians who are contributing to the sports development of the nation.

Topping the list of honorees is Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Edo State Lieutenant Governor Rt Hon Philip Shaibu, along with Nation’s Olympic Body (CON) President Engr Habu Gumel.

Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Melvin Pinnick and his Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) counterpart Engr Musa Kida are also on the roster that includes NWFL President Aisha Falode, President of Enyimba, Felix Anyansi Agwu, President of Monimichelle, Nigeria’s main stadium facilities construction team, Ebi Egbe, veteran sports journalist and media icon, Brilla FM’s Dr. Larry Izamoje and the number one Super Eagles supporter, Dr. Rauf Ladipo.

Sportsville board chairman Hon Frank Ilaboya stated that the award is Sportsville’s way of appreciating those who do well to take Nigerian sport to greater heights, even adding that the awards would be an annual event to reward the excellence.

“We present this award of Special Recognition as a way to recognize excellence and encourage those who do well in Nigerian sports to do more for the country. We would make it an annual event, ”Ilaboya stated.
