A thirty-five (35) year-old teacher, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed, was arrested by agents of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for allegedly sodomizing two of his underage students.

This occurred when the command said it also arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued six victims.

NAPTIP’s Kano area commander Shehu Umar confirmed this while speaking to reporters on Friday.

Umar said the command in a notice arrested Mohammed for turning his students into sex machines.

According to him, “On August 25 we received information that a certain Ibrahim Mohammed was having illegal knowledge of the channel of his two underage students (Almajiris) aged seven to nine in Unguwar Kadawa, Kwanar Dillalai Quarters Kano.

“We took action immediately after obtaining the information and arrested the suspect while the two victims were being rescued. Victims will also bond with their parents. “The suspect is married and has been an Islamic teacher for the past seven years.

“The investigation is ongoing and when completed, the suspect will be charged in court. “Similarly, the NAPTIP Joint Board Working Group (JBTF) received intelligence information on the movement of some victims and suspects of human trafficking. “Upon receiving the information, the command carried out the operation on August 23, raided the New Paradise Hotel in Sabon Gari Kano, which led to the arrest of the suspect, one is a fugitive but we rescued the six victims.

“The victims were accommodated in said hotel, from where they will be transferred from Kano to Libya in search of greener pastures. “The victims are from the states of Ogun, Oyo, Imo and Abia. “The crime, foreign trafficking, is contrary to section 15 (b) of the NAPTIP Act,” Umar said however.
