Notorious bandit kingpin Dogo Gide released the last two of 11 students at the Yauri Federal Government College in Birnin-Yauri, on Wednesday night. Kebi Statewho were kidnapped in 2021.
The two girls who were released are Farida Kaoje and Safiya Idris.
Confirming the release of the students to Newslodge, Sani Kaoje, Farida’s father, said that the two students were released after a ransom of 45 million naira was paid to the outlaw.
“We sold most of our properties to pay the 80 million naira that Dogo asked us to pay, but he refused to release all the students. Some of the naira notes they gave him were damaged, so he returned them and we took them to the government. He also asked us for 40 million naira, but since we don’t have the money, we went to the government and asked other well-meaning people to help us get the money,” said Mr. Kaoje, a retired civil servant.

Kaoje said the money was handed over to Gide on Wednesday by a negotiator, Abubakar and two parents of the abductees.
He said the released students were on their way to Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, after which they will be transferred to a hospital for medical examinations.
Doge Gide Backstory
Gide and his gang originally kidnapped over 100 students and some of their teachers in 2021.
While many of the girls escaped in the days after the kidnapping, others were released after ransoms were allegedly paid to Mr. Gide’s gang and allegedly in exchange for some of Mr. Gide’s fighters who were arrested by authorities. .
However, the terrorists retained 11 of the girls.
Gide released four of the abductees in April after the parents paid 80 million naira. He also released three and two more students separately in May.
