Urge the governors of the region to enact laws for the betterment of their people
By Joseph Erunke
A coalition of some groups from the southeast has condemned the threat of the leader of the indigenous peoples of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to the governors of the region, following the strong opposition of the latter to the formation of a group of militias called “Network of Eastern Security “in the region. .
This is how he praised the governors of the region for what he described as their display of patriotism, not only openly denouncing Kanu’s actions, but also calling on the people of the region not to be gullible and fall prey to Kanu’s antics. which, they pointed out, were not for the good of the region.
The IPOB had warned the governors of the Southeast not to work against the Eastern Security Network, as it accused the governors of a grand plot to incite the army and others against the group. He called on the governors to stay away from such a plan or to be prepared to face dire consequences, just as he warned local vigilantes in the area established by state governors not to allow themselves to be used to carry out what he called a evil agenda or self-made. blamed.
But reacting to the IPOB threat, groups operating under the auspices of the Coalition of Igbo Groups around the world, tasked the governors of the region not to succumb to the Kanu threat, insisting that they must do everything possible against the activities of Kanu and IPOB, which they said were illegal. the law of the land and humanity.
In addition, the coalition urged the governors of the southeast to make laws that were beneficial to the citizens of the region, saying that they should not allow Kanu a wide opportunity to operate an alternative leadership that, according to them, was contrary to peace and the development of the South. East and Nigeria.
The coalition, in a statement, signed Wednesday and signed by its affiliated members, described the IPOB leader as a fugitive who it said was being financed by some selfish interests to destroy the southeast.
He warned that unless Kanu’s activities were wholeheartedly denounced by the leadership and all well-meaning people in the Southeast, the region’s quest to realize his dream in the 2023 presidency would meet strong opposition.
Among the groups that signed the communiqué are the Southeastern Mothers Forum, represented by Mrs. Achike Ezeife as Coordinator; Ndigbo Progressive Youth that Barr had. Uche Ude also as coordinator; Igbo Unity Congress with Mazi Osigwe; South East Market Women, represented by Deaconess Grace Ejike and the South East Youth Network, which had Pastor Andy Okoro as a signatory, respectively.
According to the coalition, Kanu’s decision to pilot the group from a remote area off the coast of Nigeria was an indication that there were sinister motives in his actions, tasking the people of the region, especially the youth, not to they will fall in love with what you are doing.
The group said: “We wish to strongly condemn Nnamdi Kalu’s threat to the governors of the southeast and local vigilantes following the opposition of the governors to his illegal activities in the region, including the formation of a militia group to disrupt the peace of our region.
“We call on our governors who are elected by the people to represent them and not be intimidated by the threat from Kanu. They should do everything possible against him exposing him for what he is, for the betterment, peace and unity of the Igbo land. The governors of the southeast should not back down in enforcing law and order in their various states for the good of their people.
The group said: “It is not up to Kanu and IPOB to institute laws for the people of the Southeast but rather the functions of the governors of the region who were constitutionally elected by their people to act in that regard. So we support the governors of the Southeast and all the well-meaning citizens of the Southeast who defend national unity.
Kanu and his team have no good intentions for Ndigbo. From all the indications, it can be clearly seen that his actions are for his personal benefit and not for the generality of Ndigbo, as he desperately tries to portray.
“Let us also humbly say that the Igbo have practically shown that they believe in a Nigeria than in any tribe because they can be found in almost every part of this nation in large numbers with investments worth billions of Naira adding value to their host communities “. added.
“Nnamdi Kanu cannot speak or act on our behalf in this nation or anywhere else. Let him come home and present himself to the people for the election if he wants to speak for us. That is the only constitutional means of representation in Nigeria, where the Southeast is part. Everything that is outside of this medium is unacceptable to us, ”said the group.
We reiterate that our governors must remain steadfast in their determination to enshrine laws that benefit the citizens of our region.
“We entrust you to continue to engage young people in the need to avoid actions that show us working for the destruction of a united and indivisible Nigeria.
“The wake-up calls from different sectors of the country that our region deserves a chance in the 2023 Presidency should not be taken for granted. For this to be updated, we must work hard with different parts of the country, ”he added.
