A member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has said that empowering the underprivileged is relevant to the nation’s socio-economic development.
Peller, who represents Iseyin / Itesiwaju / Kajola Federal Constituency, Oyo State, said this during the launch of the philanthropic initiative of Mr. Bamidele Omosehin, a business magnate, in Iju-Odo, Okitipupa council area of the state by Ondo.
Shina Peller said that “if the disadvantaged were empowered academically and financially, they would greatly enhance the development of the nation.”
Speaking about Omosehin’s initiative, the legislator said that philanthropists should seek the path of the underprivileged on how to help them in terms of acquiring skills, supplying work equipment or tools after training.
Shina Peller described Omosehin as a passionate philanthropist who focused on development and assistance for the underprivileged in society.
Peller, who was the launch chair, promised to bring his intellectual empowerment initiative to Ondo state early next year and supported the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation with a donation of N1 million.

Still in empowering the underprivileged, Omosehin had previously described the initiative as a non-profit organization aiming to improve poverty and hardship in the lives of the people of Africa in general and Nigerians in particular.
He said the goal of the initiative is to improve community health care through the provision of free medical services, the payment of medical bills for those with health and financial problems, and the provision of quality education for children over the age of 18.
He promised the school-age children of the Ondo South Senate District, who are intelligent and ready to study, but are of humble and destitute origin, the necessary assistance that would guarantee their future.
