Senate President Ahmad Lawan has congratulated the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, on his re-election for a second term.
Lawan, in a statement Thursday in Abuja from his Special Media Adviser Ola Awoniyi, said that Adesina’s victory unequivocally affirmed the confidence of the bank’s shareholders, management and staff due to his leadership.
He said the renewal of his term was proof of Adesina’s excellent performance as president, evident in the bank’s many development initiatives on the African continent.
“I am delighted to convey the joy and pride of the entire National Assembly for the electoral acclaim for integrity, grace, substance and hard work.
“His re-election should be an impetus to take the continental financial institution to a greater height as it realizes that the reward for hard work is more work,” Lawan said.
Lawan urged Adesina to view the storm that preceded her re-election as the litmus test of gold and, having emerged from the test gleaming, to remain focused and determined on her mission.
