Twenty aircraft maintenance engineers have graduated from the Aeronautical Training Program, organized by the Presidential amnesty program (PORRIDGE).
The beneficiaries are among the 75 pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers of the PAP Aerial Resuscitation Program for Former Niger Delta Agitators.
Speaking on Monday in Lagos during the graduation of the students, Barry Ndiomu, Acting Administrator of the PAP, stated that the initiatives deployed by the PAP were designed to improve the lives of the youth.
He said training was critical to global labor supply in strategic industries and business sectors.
Ndiomu, a retired major general, was represented by Wilfred Musa, PAP reintegration chief.
He recalled that his administration decided to support the Aviation Resuscitation Program, given the enormous opportunities that abound in the aviation industry and its relevance in the development of human capabilities.
Ndiomu said the program had global relevance.
“When everyone gets a job in the aviation industry, whether locally or internationally, they will earn a decent living and access solid knowledge.
“This will also enable them to be part of a global network which will in turn enable them to add value to their families, communities and ultimately the Niger Delta,” he said.
He said aviation training could be very expensive but no amount was too much to invest in capacity building of the Niger Delta.

In his remarks, Leadstream Aviation Training Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Roland Ahmed praised the Presidential Amnesty Office for not giving up on the aviation delegates.
He added that the PAP, thanks to this investment, had become a strategic supplier of critical labor to the world’s fastest growing industry.
Ahmed said the 20 successful aircraft maintenance engineers would now proceed to a 12-month on-the-job training (OJT), after which they would obtain license and type rating.
“The OJT experience has been entirely financed by the PAP,” he stated.
