Governor of the state of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai.

By Ibrahim HassanWuyo

Kaduna State Governor Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufai has urged the traditional rulers of the North to continue to sensitize his people to the dangers of COVID-19, saying the treatment was expensive and costs around N400,000 to treat a COVID-19 patient in the state. .

“The amount is due to the increasing cost of medicines, food and personal protective equipment (PPE) for doctors. The government cannot tell patients to bear the cost of treatment because it will lead to further spread of the disease, “he said.

However, El-Rufai said that Kaduna had a very high success rate in treating COVID-19 patients, even when he was 90 years old, with underlying diseases, diabetes and hypertension that were successfully treated in the state.

“The virus has not left us. We can ignore it, but it’s still there. We urge you to sensitize our people to protect themselves against this virus, especially those over 60 years old. “

“It costs around N400,000 to treat a patient with coronavirus. They have to be isolated and fed. The cost of drugs has risen, including the personal protective equipment that the treating doctors must wear. When all of this is added up, the average cost of treatment is over N400,000 per person. We have to bear the cost, ”he said.
