Two alleged murderers of businessman caught in Niger


The Niger State Police Command has arrested two suspected killers of Hassan Shehu, a 28-year-old businessman at the Kure market in Minna.

The Police Command spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement yesterday, said that the suspects; Bashir Ibrahim and Aliyu Ibrahim, who are brothers and live in the Tudun Fulani area of ​​Minna, were arrested at a hotel along Minna’s western bypass.

He also said that an Abdullahi Garba from Tunga Mallam in Paikoro Local Council of Niger State was arrested for buying Aliyu’s victim’s phone at a rate of N3,000 for an exchange of another phone.

He further explained that the sum of N524,000, the deceased’s vehicle and two bottles of suspicious chemicals, which the suspect claimed to have bought from Kano with N700,000, were recovered from Bashir.

He said, “On March 12, a wrongful death case was reported in Bosso Division in which Bashir Ibrahim invited the late Shehu to an apartment in the Tudun Fulani area of ​​Bosso, for an alleged business transaction.

“However, upon arrival at the scene, the deceased was allegedly stabbed to death by the suspect, who escaped with the victim’s Peugeot 206 and some N2m.

“Upon receiving the incident, Police Commissioner Monday Bala Muryas gave marching orders to Commando operatives to ensure that the perpetrators of the cowardly act were brought to justice.

“Police launched an in-depth investigation and officers attached to the Commando’s intelligence unit arrested Bashir Ibrahim and Aliyu Ibrahim.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, that they both conspired with a certain Suleiman Mahmud from the same address, who was currently at large, to tie up the victim and rob him of the money in his car.

“They confessed that upon entering the house, the deceased struggled with said Suleiman, while Aliyu stabbed him in the chest and left him to bleed to death.

“The deceased was Bashir’s best man during his wedding last year and Bashir confessed to getting away with the victim’s vehicle containing N2m and then traveling to Kano to buy some chemicals to launder the gold items from the money.”

The police spokesman stressed that the matter is being investigated, while efforts to arrest Suleiman Mahmud continue.

He assured that the suspects would be prosecuted in court for conspiracy to commit a crime, manslaughter and receipt of stolen property.
