The direction of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has said that it was aware of and already met to address the agitation and cause of the protest carried out by students from its Faculty of Law, Campus Ifetedo on Friday.

In a telephone chat with DAILY POST, Mr. Ademola Adesoji, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, revealed that the students protested on Friday, February 19, 2021 and that the management of the Ifetedo Campus had already met with the students.

He explained that after meeting with the students, they gave feedback on student agitations to the Main Campus in Osogbo.

The PRO said the meeting was ongoing to address the situation, adding that the school’s leadership would soon make a decision.

The agitation of the students according to Adesoji was based on their rejection of the increase in hostel fees and the decision to start cooking their meals in the hostels.

It revealed that the increase in hostel fees affects the six UNIOSUN campuses that are located in Ifetedo, Ikire, Ipetu-Jesa, Okuku, Ejigbo and the main campus in Osogbo.

DAILY POST learned that the President of the Student Union government, Muideen Olanrewaju, had advised students to sheathe their swords, as the new administration policy does not only affect the Ifetedo campus.
