Professor of the Department of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna In Niger State, Sherifat Adefolalu, was found dead on Sunday at her residence in Gnaiko area of Minna, with her throat slit.
The president of the school’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Gbolahan Bolarin, confirmed the incident to Newslodge on Sunday night.
Bolarin said her body was discovered Sunday morning after members of her church came to her home because she did not attend a church service.
Residents of the area said that sensing something was wrong, they forced the door of her residence and found her in a pool of blood with her throat cut and a bloody knife next to her.
Neighbors said she was a widow. Her husband was a professor at the University.

Until his death, he lived with a maid whom he allegedly fired on Friday.
Responding to the incident, the Spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that more information regarding the incident will be communicated in due course.
Police moved his body to a morgue, he said.
