The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday challenged the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to stop them from launching Radio Biafra in Daura, the president’s hometown.
His challenge came barely twenty-four hours. The federal government approved N654 million for the deployment of a hybrid spectrum monitoring system that would target illegal frequencies in the southern part of the country, especially the southeast.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, yesterday informed the members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, how her ministry discovered 320 frequencies in use throughout the country and of these 320, 106 were illegal.
Pantami said the monitoring did not cover the southeast. It covers five areas of the country: northeast, northwest, central north, southwest and south-south, but the southeast has not been covered.
His words: “This is why we submitted our memorandum, seeking council approval of N653,886,584 to acquire and deploy a hybrid spectrum monitoring system that will cover the southern part of the country, most importantly the southeast.
“So the council approved the implementation and this project will go a long way towards promoting safety and security and second, it will identify the use of illegal spectrum and third it will improve revenues for the federal government and, in fourth, in the long term, it will create a lot of jobs for citizens. “
Irritated by this development, IPOB in a statement from its Advertising Secretary, Emma Powerful, said: “for daring, we will launch ‘radio Biafra in Daura’.

IPOB to Buhari: To dare, we will launch Biafra radio in Daura
“The attention of the global Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) movement skillfully led by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn towards the approval of N654m by the Federal Government of Nigeria to monitor and block Radio Biafra frequencies. in the country in particular in the southeast and south-south geopolitical zones.
“This perverse but useless decision was made during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
“The fact that the Nigerian federal government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari has allocated such an enormous amount of money for this unreasonable project despite its precarious financial situation only confirms their nervousness about the IPOB name. Do we think they said that we are evildoers? How come they are now losing sleep over evildoers?
“The Nigerian government and its agents have spent more than this amount in the past and nothing has come out. We hope they will approve more money for the fight because they must understand that they will try but will not be able to resist the IPOB and its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Such attempts in the past amounted to futile efforts, and this time, they will fail again.
“In fact, to show you how formidable we are, six weeks from now, IPOB will launch Radio Biafra in Daura, Buhari’s hometown, which chaired the FEC that made this silly decision. Every time you visit Daura together with Aisha, you will receive the Radio Biafra frequency and hear the gospel of freedom from our leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Then you will know that the clique, its patrons and slaves cannot compete with the indefatigable IPOB.
“In case you don’t know, Radio Biafra is not only received in the land of Biafra but in various parts of Nigeria. It is also the radio station of choice for millions of people in more than 100 countries around the world. We are far ahead of Nigeria and it is too late to stop Biafra. We are a divine movement ordained by the Most High God in Heaven (Chukwu Okike Abiama) who created Heaven and Earth.
“The Nigerian government has failed in the past and will quickly fail again in this fight. IPOB cannot be decimated until Biafra’s freedom and independence are fully achieved. Biafra is a divine project!
“We know that the Presidency, as always, will try to use its slaves and fools in Biafraland and Nigeria to fight IPOB but without success. We are way ahead of all of them. We are aware that the government hires and pays some of them just to use them for odd jobs, but they must not forget that eternal repentance is the reward for betrayal.
“Now we understand why some traitors and saboteurs among the Biafrans are making frivolous and elaborate press statements in the newspaper pages, attacking the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a way to show their loyalty to the caliphate in order to raise more windfall money.
“It’s no wonder these suckers in Biafraland were busy talking about their crap on social media and newspapers last week because they probably got a tip that the federal government was about to approve more money to fight IPOB.”
