The Ndokwa people, on the platform of the Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU, have vowed not to play a secondary role in the country’s ethnic nationalities committee.
The chairman of the NNU Caregivers Committee, Dr. Ogaranya Tabowei, who affirmed this during the 2020 Union General Assembly, emphasized the need for the people of the Ndokwa nation to love their fellow man as themselves, lo which, according to him, was the “greatest principle of Christianity.”
Tabowei said: “I see a new NNU, where we will not play a second violin and will remain second class citizens of Delta and Nigeria; where we will share the meat before embarking on the hunt for the animal and we will be given our choice as opposed to now when an insignificant portion is thrown at us.
“I see a new NNU where we will fight for our quantum oil production and be recognized for having the largest gas reserves in West Africa.”

In her keynote address, Delta State University Professor Mabel Osakwe, Abraka, said: “To promote the Ndokwa identity – language, culture, dignity of character, love and brotherhood – act as a catalyst for development. to develop the physical environment, the economy and education; and fight against the contemptuous negligence, the maginalization and the under-representation of our people.
“This will bring rewards for our long-standing peaceful and civilized disposition, as we correct the stigma of being labeled ‘cowards’;
“Update our rights and privileges as a Delta North oil producer and get rid of the superficial linguistic link used as a mask to deceive and keep Ndokwa in linguistic slavery, and reposition and reorganize the Ndokwa political house.
“As an oil producing area, we hope to enjoy a fair and equitable measure of our earth’s resources.
“That is the cry throughout the Niger Delta, and that is our cry too. This claim was immediately followed by tables that revealed facts about how badly Ndokwa fared under the assimilationist deal at Delta North.
“We have been brought to the end of our bonds. The days of our underdog status are over and we have absolutely no intention of bequeathing this situation to our children in Ndokwaland. “
Election Committee with Chief Nze Ananyi as chair; Christopher Uzoalu, secretary; Dr. Ada Ugbomeh, Rear Admiral Dickson Olisemenogo (Rtd) and Ms. Beatrice Otono as members, were established to conduct an election for a new executive in January 2021.
