The CHAIRMAN of the Campaign Council of the Edo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has strongly condemned the attempted assassination of the President of the Owan East Local Council, Mr. Andrew Osigwe and his family, by armed men .

Addressing party worshipers during the re-election campaign of Edo State Governor and PPD candidate Mr. Godwin Obaseki in Oghede, Northeast Ovia Local Government Area yesterday, Chief Orbih warned that party leaders will not they will fold their arms and observe their supporters and members mutilated and massacred by the opposition.

The PDP chief also called for the investigation and prosecution of all those involved in the vile act, urging the police and other security agencies in the state to fulfill their responsibilities to protect the lives and property of citizens.

Orbih said: “Let me take this opportunity to condemn, in very strong terms, the attack on the Chairman of the Owan East Local Government Council, Andrew Osigwe, and his family.

“They shot at his residence and after two hours with no news of his death, they returned to launch another attack. It was then that the police responded.

“This election will not be won with weapons; people’s votes will count. Let me take this opportunity to appeal to the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, not to allow criminals to destroy his reputation. “

He continued: “You have a responsibility to protect the citizens of Edo as we prepare for the elections. For us, as a political party, we will not sit by and watch our supporters get slaughtered for their support of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

“This election is about our state; those who want to take us back are the ones behind this type of behavior. Yesterday, the leadership of the Congress of All Progressives (APC), including its former national president, Adams Oshiomhole, and his candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, were in that area of local government.

“We are not in the jungle; Those who called themselves “Tigers and Lions” should know that we have a zoo. They should find their way to the zoo. We are not a lawless society.

“I saw a video in which someone paraded with a Lion in his residence; I think we have laws in this state. Those in charge must take appropriate action because we don’t want animals to attack our citizens. “

For his part, Obaseki said: “The fight in Edo today is about how we are going to use taxpayer money to work for the people. My main concern is how to build roads to your doorstep.

“I am concerned about the cost of living; how to bring electricity and roads to my town; how are we going to live a better life. “

“There are enough resources and funds to work, but some people say they should be the ones to control it. Are you blind to see that there is a large population in this area? They also couldn’t build this Oghede Road. “

“When it comes to their pockets, they are not blind. So this government is about changing that narrative. There is no struggle or charm to stop us.

“If they come to power, they will empower their Lions and Tigers to misappropriate money. In order for us to finish all the work we have started, I need your support. Use your Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to vote en masse for the PDP “
