Founder of Living Faith Church International, also known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has claimed that the states of Lagos and Ogun are now infected with an anti-church virus, against Covid-19.
Oyedepo said this during his sermon on Sunday, June 28, while condemning the closure of churches and other worship centers by the Lagos and Ogun state governments.
His words: “There is no handwashing, there is nothing, everyone is in the market running over each other every day of the week and there are no market outbreaks, but now there are outbreaks, perceived outbreaks of the church. The prophets are God’s voices to the nations Caution!
“Now, freedom of religion is no longer a constitutional right, but is now determined to buy some people. It is difficult to kick against the priest.
“This is no longer a coronavirus in Lagos and Ogun. It is now a clean and clear anti-church virus. “The cleric claimed that his church has recorded 114 Covid-19 testimonies of healing.
Can anyone silence the church? Never! I have never heard from anyone that God has healed in the marketplace, but people are healed in all churches day and night, a true tangible cure. We have recorded 114 testimonies of coronavirus cure. We have 10 this week, ”he said.
However, users of social networks have turned to their platforms to condemn Oyedepo’s statement.

Do you miss your congregation or do you miss their offerings?
@FestusGreen “Pastor Chris and Bishop Oyedepo They both have churches in the United Kingdom and the United States, so why aren’t they attacking those governments the way they attack Nigeria? One said it is no longer Covid19 Pandemic, the other questioned the NCDC guidelines. Nigerian parishioners are so nearsighted? What’s going on?
“If Pastor Chris and Bishop Oyedepo believe that pandemic # COVID19 is an anti-church pandemic, that’s fine.
But both have to leave the comfort of their homes and enter any Covid19 isolation center and do what is necessary, supervised with a real-time update for public reading. Simple”.
@LayonBounty “Do you mean that you can only pray and hear God’s words when you go to church?
What happened to virtual services? What happened to our holy books? What happened to the recorded sermons that we can easily access on the Internet? You are not right before tweeting!

@Baldilocks__ “Bishop Oyedepo and his friends would have gotten rid of all this stress if they had cured all the Coronaviruses.”
@ Uyi00262249 “The Church should open up. I’m with Bishop Oyedepo ”
@Itz_jusander “The reason many Nigerians don’t take this virus seriously is because their pastors take it as a joke.
Let me remind you that your pastor is a wealthy man with access to top-quality healthcare and that you are the face of UsUnamused. ”
@ Juliobam22 “Hmmmn, Bishop Oyedepo should have kept a golden silence on these issues.
He seems to be more concerned with the church as a structure and not as the congregation. ”
