Ashiru defeats Yero and Sidi to secure the PDP’s gubernatorial bid in Kaduna

A former member of the House of Representatives, Isah Ashiru, won the PDP gubernatorial nomination in Kaduna.

Ashiru defeated four other challengers, including former National Emergency Management Agency chief Sani Sidi, former state governor Ramalan Yero and former senator Shehu Sani, among others.

The primary elections that took place at the Ahmadu Bello Kaduna Stadium from Wednesday to Thursday morning and monitored by PREMIUM TIMES, saw Mr. Ashiru get 414 votes to win the race.

According to the results announced by the counting officer Raymond Dabo at the scene, Mr. Sidi got 260 votes, Mr. Yero got 28 votes, Mr. Abbas got 15 votes, Mr. Kajuru got 11 votes and Mr. Sani got 2 votes.

In a congratulatory message to the winner on his verified Twitter page, Senator Sani congratulated the winner and also thanked the two delegates who voted for him.

Mr. Sani said: “The Kaduna PDP gubernatorial primaries have concluded. I lost and the Honorable Isah Ashiru won. I want to congratulate you. Two Delegates voted for me without giving them a dime. Unfortunately, I don’t know who they are to appreciate these clean votes. We look forward.”

Ashiru was the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in 2019.
