The Federal Government has concluded plans to close traffic bound for the island of Lagos in the Third continental bridge for two weeks from Wednesday, January 13, 2021, as part of the ongoing rehabilitation works.
The federal controller, Works Lagos, engineer Popoola Olukayode announced this in a statement, published over the weekend, entitled: “Change of the current detour point towards Oworosonki and closure of the causeway bound for Lagos Island, including the access Adekunle “.
Olukayode, who also notified the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Transport, called for the cooperation and understanding of the public, particularly motorists.
According to Popoola, “the contractor plans to change the current diversion point 2 kilometers to Oworonsoki and close to traffic the road to Lagos Island, including the access road to Adekunle next to the current diversion points for two weeks starting Wednesday January 12 through 27, 2021 to allow you to remove, replace, and snap in place joint 23 after the current detour point alongside the other two joints, 16 and 17 that you are currently working on on the roadway with destination to the island of Lagos ”.
He explained that after placing the three joints and asphalting, the entire road to the island of Lagos will be reopened to traffic.
Popoola, however, assured that repairs would not be unnecessarily delayed to allow for smooth traffic.
