Prostate Enlargement led to Impotence: Veteran actor Kola Oyewo shares his experience

Veteran actor Kola Oyewo has shared his battle with prostate enlargement that led to him becoming impotent.

In a video interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube page, the Yoruba actor revealed that he underwent surgeries to address the noncancerous growth in his prostate gland that was causing urinary issues.

Due to the severity of his condition, doctors had to remove his testicles in order to save his life.

Since experiencing difficulty passing urine in July 2019, Oyewo has had to make adjustments in his life to manage his enlarged prostate. He emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment, as he personally knows individuals who passed away as a result of this condition.

Despite facing challenges with impotence and urinary function, Oyewo remains positive and grateful for the medical interventions that have improved his overall health.

Surgery and Recovery

After opting for a surgery that altered his sexual function, Oyewo now uses a medical bypass to facilitate urination. He credits medical experts for their expertise in managing his health condition.

With the support of his family and colleagues in the entertainment industry, Oyewo has resumed work on movie projects and continues to live a fulfilling life.

He shared his journey of treatment and recovery to raise awareness about prostate health and encourage others to prioritize their well-being.

Background and Achievements

Oyewo started his acting career in 1964 with the “Oyin Adejobi Theatre Group” and later transitioned to the University of Ife theatre where he worked closely with renowned dramatist Ola Rotimi.

His notable performances in various plays have earned him recognition in the Nigerian theatre industry. After retiring from his lecturing position at Obafemi Awolowo University, Oyewo continued to contribute to the performing arts community at Redeemer’s University and Elizade University.
