Filmmaker Rogers Ofime has partnered with the Edo State Government on a new soap opera starring renowned Nollywood actors.

In a statement on Thursday, Ofime underlined the social relevance of the 78-episode series, which will address critical issues such as irregular migration, human trafficking, rehabilitation and redemption.

The State Ministry of Art, Culture and Tourism will oversee the cultural aspects of the production, ensuring its authenticity and relevance.

At the same time, Edo Film Project will take care of the technical elements, guaranteeing the highest production standards.

In a meeting on Friday at the office of the First Lady of Edo State, Ofime, the CEO of Native Media TV, applauded the efforts of the state government and various agencies to combat the vices he would highlight in the series.

Ofime, who shot the first Nollywood movie on a moving train in 2021, emphasized the historical context of the region with irregular migration and the authenticity it brings to the narrative.

He commended the First Lady, Betsy Obaseki, for her advocacy of female empowerment and her support of organizations and charities that define the role of women and girls in social development.

Their initiatives, he said, aim to reduce dependence on coercive forces that contribute to human trafficking and ensure that returnees are properly reintegrated into society.

In conclusion, Mr Ofime, the Executive Producer of the now abandoned Nigerian TV series ‘The Johnsons’, Rogers Ofime, revealed that the show is a Native Media production commissioned by Africa Magic.

The soap opera will air on all Multichoice and Africa Magic platforms, including Africa Magic, Showmax and Peacock, and will reach audiences in 48 countries in Africa.

Native Media TV is renowned for its commitment to telling original stories such as ‘Oloibiri’, ‘Voiceless’, ‘Hush’, ‘Zamani’ and ‘Hotel Majestic’ among other blockbuster films. This soap opera will also showcase the significant strides made by the Edo State Government in the creative space.
