Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has said that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who represented Imo East, is not a problem of the state or the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the PDP in the state is one and remains a united family driven by a common purpose.

The former president and vice president of the Federal House of Representatives said that any attempt by the fifth columnists to cause discontent, especially among their leaders, will not be successful.

Leaders of the Popular Democratic Party in the Southeast on Sunday were reported to have rejected what they called the imposition of Senator Sam Anyanwu as a zonal consensus candidate for the post of National Secretary.

Among the party’s leaders, who have voiced their rejection of the candidate, are former governors of Anambra State and Imo States, Peter Obi, Chief Achike Udenwa and Emeka Ihedioha, among others.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Chibuike Onyeukwu, the former governor noted that he had extended the hand of his companionship and assured Senator Anyanwu of his support, that of Imo PDP, and indeed his friends and associates throughout. the country to emerge as National Secretary at the Convention and succeed in office.

Ihedioha said: “I have been brought to my attention by media reports stating that I am reluctant to nominate Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the Southeast Consensus Candidate for the post of National Secretary of the PDP for the National Convention scheduled for the days 30 and 30. October 31, 2021 ”.

“The information is completely misleading and should be ignored.”

The statement reads: “It is noteworthy that Rt. Hon Ihedioha, last Friday, had a meeting with Senator Anyanwu shortly after Thursday’s meeting of critical stakeholders from PDP Southeast, held in Enugu.”

Let all problems, therefore, rest and no one should play politics with that as it is not a disputed issue.

In reaction to the development, Imo PDP Legal Counsel, Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu urged the PDP and its many supporters to ignore the naysayers, as the party is united and working hand in hand to make the party strong and virile to win the elections in the state of Imo, in the 2023 elections. and beyond.

“The report in some sections of the media, which purported a disagreement in the Southeast Caucus, was characteristic of such a high-level meeting to peacefully adopt its candidates by consensus rather than an open contest at the National Convention of the PDP scheduled to take place in Abuja on the 30th day of October 2021 ”.
