The concerned leaders of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) have urged the party to join a proposed coalition aimed at expelling President Bola Tinubu from office in 2027.
In an extended invitation to the dedicated members of the PDP, the leaders are encouraging the party to merge their entire structure in the coalition, creating a unified movement to eliminate President Tinubu in 2027.
The call was made in a statement from a special meeting of its worried leaders that included former vice president Atiku Abubakar, and former Senate president, David Bonaventure Mark, which was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
At the coalition meeting against Tinubu chaired by Senator David Mark, they are former governor of the state of Cross River, Liyel Imake, Aminu Albuwal of the state of Sokoto, former president of the party, Uchenna Secondus, former governor of Jigawa's state, Sule Lick, among others.
According to the statement, “the meeting encourages all members of the well -intentioned PDP and other patriotic Nigerians to join the coalition.”
The party also commissioned that the partners of the coalition focus on the key issues of national interest that bordered the well -being of the Nigerians.
He said: “All coalition partners must be united in the issues of national unity, democracy, national security, national economy and political will to eliminate corruption integrated into our institutions.”
Presenting its structures to the coalition, the PDP commissioned the “partners of the coalition to solve the modalities of winning all the elections taking into account local and national peculiarities.”
The decision of the meeting was the result of the consideration of the challenges that buffers the party and the reality that confronts the only ruling party for these leaders that include the former governor of the state of Ebonyi, Sam Egwu.
According to the leaders of previous parties in question in the statement issued in part: “Since our loss in the last presidential elections and the departure of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as national president, our beloved party has never once again been the same.
“The interests aderred from the inside and the irresponsible actions of the federal government led by APC that has been using state institutions to suffocate and destroy democracy do not know limits!
“The inability of the PDP leadership to lead the party for its constitution, rules and regulations led him to a chaotic and indisciplined part!
“The vision of the founding parents for which the match was established and the role he played in the restoration of Nigeria as a stable and united country and a key player in the regional, continental and global stage has been eliminated as well as our roles as the leader of the black race is now surpassed by smaller and less equipped countries.
“Painally, Nigeria is now a diminished country and a shame on the world stage!
“The meeting took time to deliberate deeply on the issues of democracy, national unity, national security, economy, corruption, governance and other concerns that affect our country.”
He accused the ruling party of being responsible for the internal crises that concern the opposition party.
The statement said that “the APC government, which arose in false and evil propaganda, to save Nigeria from PDP now is a disaster for our nation and, therefore, must be expelled from power.
“All development indices that support the comfort and quality of citizens' lives have collapsed, and life is now hell in Nigeria.
“The PDP, which is organic with the discipline, the ability and history to lead and save Nigeria, is now a shadow of its former self. The heat wave unleashed by the federal government of the APC through threats, blackmail and sponsorship has forced the elected officers in the government to leave the PDP.”
