The Presidency has dismissed the possibility of a joint presidential ticket that involves former vice president Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of Labor Party 2023, Peter Obi, presenting any challenge to the re -election offer of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The president's special advisor on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced this during an appearance at the stellar schedule of Arise TV on Thursday, insisting that Tinubu's performance would be sufficient to ensure victory in the surveys.
His comment follows the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the opposition coalition platform before the 2027 general elections.

The coalition includes former vice president Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of Labor Party 2023 Peter Obi, the former governor of the state of Osun Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, and the former president of Senate David Mark, among others.
“They are free to form alliances, but in regards to the APC, we do not see them as a threat … if they merge Peter Obi and Atiku together, there is no way that the two can beat a Tinubu and Shettima ball ticket. It will be impossible,” said Onanuga.
He added that the ruler Congress of all progressives (APC) focuses on governance, not on the rhetoric of the campaign, declaring: “The weapon are jumping, it is not yet policy time.”
