The Bayelsa state chapter of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) has supported the call of the interested parties worried throughout the country to find the 2027 presidential ticket of the party to the southern region of Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its advertising secretary, Derri Alasuote Wright, the party indicated that the decision of the interested parties not only reflects a commitment to inclusion and equity, but also ensures that the PDP remains receptive to the aspirations of all Nigerians.
Bayelsa's PDP also reaffirmed his recognition from Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the party, stating that the recent decision of the Supreme Court on the matter is “very clear and unequivocal.”
The statement also revealed that the interim president of the state chapter, George Turnah, praised the Minister of the Territory of the Federal Capital, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, together with the members of the G5 and the former governors, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu and IFEANYI UGUANANYI, for their strategic role in promoting the resolution forward.
According to Turnah, the recent meeting held in Abuja is a testimony of Wike's “unwavering love” for the PDP and his sustained efforts to defend justice within the party. He added that Wike's actions “have attracted all members of the party throughout the country.”
The statement is read in part: “We completely support the resolutions achieved at the meeting, and as a state chapter, we maintain the recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary of the PDP, and to affirm that there is no vacancy that requires any replacement.
“The constitution of our party and the recent decision of the Supreme Court with respect to the issuance of the National Secretary are very clear and unequivocal in this regard.
“As a state chapter, we are united with the rest of our eminent and interested leaders worried throughout the Federation in the decision to locate the presidential ticket of our party for the next 2027 elections to the southern region.
