Before the next general elections, the interested parties in the Congress of all the progressives (APC), the Central-Norte region, have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to retain the owner Vice President, Kashim Shettima as his formula partner.
The heads of the party operating under the platform, North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, made the statement in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
The president of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, declared that “the APC forum of the Northern Center rejects the president of Bola Tinubu to leave Vice President Kashim Shettima as his formula partner in 2027.
“These calls are not of interested parties within the APC in the northern central zone. We dissociate ourselves with such suggestions and emphasize that our support for President Tinubu for the 2027 elections includes Vice President Shettima.”
Online Tribune’s checks revealed that Zazzaga was apparently reacting to a statement from another group in the area, the movement of the center-central rebirth (NCRM), which recently asked President Tinubu to consider the center-northern of the vice president’s slot.
Zazzaga said that any attempt to interrupt the current ticket would be counterproductive.
“We urge Mr. President to ignore the clown of individuals and groups that try to derail their administration, which has made significant advances to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and development.
“As we did in 2023, the APC forum of the North Center assures President Tinubu and its supporters of our unwavering commitment to work for re -election in 2027.
“The Muslim-Musulman ticket will not affect the possibilities of President Tinubu in the middle belt. With key positions in the hands of the Christians of the middle belt, we believe that the region will continue to support its leadership.
“The president’s performance will be the determining factor. There is no need to change a strategy that was successful,” said Zazzaga.
