Country of origin to the late Pope, Argentina is mourning for the loss of Pope Francis, with the people of Buenos Aires, his hometown, gathering for a special mass to honor the former cardinal who once met as Jorge Bergoglio.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1936, Francis served as archbishop of the city for 15 years before ascending to papacy.
In a bus stop in Buenos Aires, dozens of mourners gathered to travel to the Plaza de Mayo, one of the most emblematic sites of the Argentine capital, for a Pope Francis who commemorates in mass.
On board one of the buses arranged for the occasion, two women told CNN that Francis, even after becoming Pope, “would still send letters back to his archdiocese every year, using a fax machine.”
Buses, which Francis often rode during his years in the city, were especially organized today by the authorities to transport the mourners to the service.
Meanwhile, thousands of miles in Rome, Francis has reached his last resting place.
