Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifray, Eleyele, Ibadan held its 27th call ceremony for the certificate conference in 469 graduates.
The certificates were granted after successful basic nursing programs, basic gut, community nursing and community gratefully.
Speaking at the event, the Health Commissioner and President of the Governing Council, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, said that the university has once again solidified its reputation of excellence in a notable achievement that underlines the growing academic skill of Nigeria.
She said the institution is recognized for its high academic standards and discipline to produce brilliant nursing professionals.
Dr. Ajetunmobi declared that the graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone in the academic and professional trip of the new nurses, adding that the graduates were “trained in one of the most reputed universities of nursing and peroteria and now have joined a noble profession.”
She reiterated that the objective of the state government is to guarantee enough excellent nurses to serve communities with dignity and skill.
Alaaafin's wife, Ayaba Abiwumi Olajumoke Owoade, who is a student of the university, accused the graduates of being agents of change in society.
She challenged them to establish the rhythm, break the barriers and find solutions to the things that had so far remained invisible, inaccessible and unattainable in the world that changes rapidly.
“Be a pioneer in this noble professional career you have chosen. Establish the rhythm and break the barriers. A pioneer is a leader who summons the followers for the inspiration of their life and action,” he advised.
The Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu said that the institution has printed its name in the training of professionals and hands endowed in medical care services, which has positioned Nigeria among its classmates as a factor to take into account.
He applauded the courage of management for defending the standard and maintaining the legacy and visions of the founding parents, praising the immense contributions of Governor Seyi Makinde, for meeting the needs of the institution immediately.
In his call speech, the provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi thanked the parents of students and investors graduated by the confidence deposited in the university.
She listed the various achievements registered by the University under her clock, adding that the University held an important position in the development of the higher education of the nation.
“The Oyo State College of Nursing and Pathwifray remains a family name in the production of medium level labor in the health sector, a crucial component of the mission of improving health services in the state of Oyo,” he said.
Speaking about the participation of the Association of Rights, led by the World President, Pastor Gabriel Ajeigbe, the rector declared “we value students for their roles in the success recorded by the College.”
The predosts of some sister universities, including the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology of Oyo State, the Faculty of Catholic Nursing, Oke-Ofa, Federal Cooperatives College, the Leader of City University, the Perioperative Nursing School, University College Hospital, Ibadan, among others, also sent their Goodwill messages at the call ceremony.
The call saw a total of 469 graduate students, including 31 best graduate students, while 3 won the Provost awards for the best student, the best in practical and the best in nutrition.
Adetunji Shukurat, a basic nursing graduate who emerged as the best graduate, pronounced the Valedician speech.
