Russia, Ukraine begins the largest prisoner exchange since the beginning of the war

Russia and Ukraine began an important exchange of prisoners on Friday, which is expected to involve 1,000 soldiers on each side on the border of Ukraine-Belaro.

Until now, 270 Russian soldiers and 120 civilians were exchanged for the same number of Ukrainians.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said more exchanges are expected “in the next few days.”

The agreement followed the recent conversations in Istanbul, the first direct meeting since 2022. Although the fire was not reached, both parties agreed to exchange.

Although such exchanges have happened before, this is the biggest so far.

Prison swaps remain one of the few points of agreement in the current war.

The fight continues. During the night, Russia launched 175 drones and a missile. Ukraine said he demolished 150 drones, but damage was reported in several regions.

Earlier this week, Ukraine knocked 63 of 76 Russian drones. Russia said he destroyed 162 Ukrainian drones in return.
