The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labor Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, said he will play the 2027 survey on the LP platform.
Obi, while evaluating the state of affairs of opposition political parties in the country, declared that all were wrapped in crisis, without leaving any as a safe refuge.
The former Governor of the Anambra state blamed the crises in the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP), the LP and others about the Government, whom he claimed that they instigated the problems in his plot to decapitate the opposition.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the LP, stating that he would continue to dispute the elections on the party platform.
Obi's decision, which was contained in a viral video loaded on the WhatsApp platform of the LP on Saturday, seemed to have paid the speculation that he had been working with the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Kaduna State, 2027.
A media, Danroyce TV, had recorded OBI while he had an interactive session with a group of Nigerian young people.
“I will still run in the Labor Party. I am a member of the Labor Party,” he said while answering a question about the matter.
In a question about the disputes in the LP and why he had not solved the problems, OBI replied: “What is happening in the Labor Party and the PDP is caused by the Government. He quotes anywhere.
“We had a problem in our group before, in the past, (Umaru) Yar'adua was the president. I went to him then; he called the (then) president of the INEC, Professor Maurice Iwu, and told him that he did not want any problem anywhere. We were forced to solve it.
“But today, in all parties, there are problems. These are deliberate problems caused by the system. These are some of the things I want to clean if I have the opportunity.
“The parties will work very well because you cannot have a system that works without a strong opposition.”
Obi also talked about the role that voters must play if they must achieve a change in the government, jealously calling their votes on election day.
He pointed out that although the party agents were often recruited to protect the interest of a party, the final protection of the votes and to guarantee what they would count, they must come from the voters themselves.
Obi told young people to distrust the mischief of those who did not want the old order to do things outside, and added that they must maintain pressure to defend democratic values.
He also shared with the participant his views on the era of politicians, noting that he would have preferred that there was a retirement age so that politicians avoid the current practice of people who dispute elections of 70 years or more.
