Nigeria's Security and Defense Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,200 personnel throughout the state of Sokoto before the 2025 democracy day celebration to guarantee peace and security during the festivities.
The deployment, which covers the 23 areas of the local government, was ordered by the State Commander, Umar Ibrahim Alfadarai, as part of the proactive efforts to protect lives, safeguard critical infrastructure and avoid acts of vandalism during the celebration.
A statement issued by the Public Relations officer of the Command, SC UA Sidi, said the operation is in line with the directive of the NSCDC General Commander, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
“The measure aims to prevent any breach of peace, particularly at identified inflammation points and celebration places. The body will intensify efforts to avoid unnecessary infractions, including asymmetric conflicts, and will maintain a visible presence in volatile areas to deter criminal activities,” said the statement.
Commander Alfadarai emphasized the importance of coordinated security strategies and revealed that the implementation is guided by the operation number No. NSCDC/SSC/OPS/11/2025. He said that the critical national operations and asset departments and infrastructure protection (CNAIP) would supervise the deployment and guarantee adequate implementation.

In addition, he directed all the commanders of the area and division officers to carry out covert and open surveillance operations in strategic places, while strengthening the collection and collaboration of intelligence with other security agencies.
The officers were also accused of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in the fulfillment of their duties, while the members of the public were urged to continue respecting the law and avoid any action that could threaten public peace.
Commander Alfadarai assured residents the preparation of the body to guarantee a safe and without problems of the Day of Democracy, and extended his good will to the people of the state of Sokoto for a peaceful and cheerful commemoration.
