The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), on Monday, began the training of 50 females in EDO in the conversion of vehicles with gasoline to vehicles with compressed natural gas (GNC).
The training, said the NADDC, was in collaboration with the government of the state of Edo.
Speaking on the training flag, the director general/CEO of NADDC, Mr. Olumemimo Joseph Osanipin, said that the initiative was aligned with the federal government's commitment to promote cleaner and cheaper energy in the transport sector of the Nation.

Osanipin also added that the scheme would equally equip and empower technicians who are being trained with the skills to safely and competent vehicles with Petro power to CNG models.
This was just when he added that the initiative was to promote gender equality and economic empowerment, as well as contribute to the growth of the automotive sector within the GNC ecosystem in Nigeria.
Osanipin, who was represented by the deputy director of Industrial Infrastructure, Mrs. Broy Onireti, declared that the training was part of the council's efforts to promote the adoption of CNG as a cheaper, cleaner and more safe fuel for mobility in Nigeria.
“This training is designed to last five days and to provide technical theoretical and practical practical knowledge about the conversion of vehicles with gasoline to vehicles with CNG.
“The objective is to actively involve students in a variety of learning results and promote teamwork among them. Training is structured to allow sufficient time for practical practice, which allows participants to demonstrate and apply the knowledge and technical knowledge acquired practically. Osanipin reiterated.
According to him, after the elimination of fuel subsidies by the administration led by President Bola Tinubu, the Government opted for alternatives to vehicles with gasoline.
The NADDC added, had been training men in the conversion of vehicles to Petro to GNC models.
“Now, we want to present many women to this sector. They will have an update of skills on how to turn GNC. This is the first training for women in collaboration with the state government and the mechanics of the lady,” Osanipin said.
Also speaking, the director of the Lady Mechanic initiative, Sandra Aguebor, said it was the first time that women would be trained and certified as CNG conversion specialists.
Aguebor said that the beneficiaries would be deployed in the workshop after training, and encouraged the beneficiaries to focus on training to establish their workshops in the future..
