A head of the southwest of the new Popular Party of Nigeria (NNPP), Ambassador Olufmi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has said that in the general elections of 2027, Nigerians should not give their votes to the political parties and politicians who did not comply with the promises of the campaign in the accumulation of the 2023 elections.
Ajadi, in a statement on Sunday, said that as the country is preparing for the general elections of 2027, the electorate must review the various 2023 campaign promises of the political parties and what they have done in the last two years and use it as a guide to form their decision in 2027.
He said that during the general electoral campaigns of 2023, political parties and several candidates promised the electorate a good life, but what is happening in the country has shown that politicians have made life unbearable for the people who voted for them in power.
He said that the ruler Progressive Congress (APC), among others, promised a better life for people, but said the reality is that people have become beggars and are living a miserable life.
Ajadi, in the statement, said: “As we are preparing for the general elections of 2027, I urge the electorate to review the actions of political parties and politicians, observing how far they have fulfilled their promises before issuing their votes in 2027.
“Political parties and politicians promised a better life for Nigerians, but have worsened in the last two years.
“The ruling APC in the center increased the hope of the Nigerians through their renewed agenda of hope, but people live hopeless lives due to the fall of the economy.
“The party said that the poor would be allowed to breathe, but in the last two years, it has painfully suffocated the poor. They can no longer breathe. An average Nigerian is living a hopeless life. Workers' wages cannot maintain a simple life.
“The elimination of the subsidy without the provision of alternative palliative and materials has made the prices of oil products beyond the scope of the average Nigerian. The multiplier effects of an increase in the prices of oil products have made the value of Naira decrease.
“It is a pity that the Naira has fallen in comparison compared to the CFA used by the neighboring countries of Western Africa.
“The government must do something to improve the economy and increase the value of Naira compared to other coins of the world.”
