The governor of the state of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Oolu, commissioned on Thursday the first radio station owned by the local government in Nigeria, Ishokan 106.7 FM, operated by the local government of Mushin. He described the release as commendable and worthy of emulation by other advice, emphasizing the importance of the effective dissemination of information for people.
Governor Sanwo-olu, who launched the pioneer station in Oliyide Street, Mushin, through his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, also commissioned other inherited projects in the area. He praised the president of the Council, the Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye, for starting and delivering such notable projects.
According to the governor, establishing the radio station, along with several other projects, including roads and a market, is a remarkable achievement. He said that residents should be excited to have a ruling party such as the Congress of all progressives (APC) and local leaders who are implementing infrastructure projects that some states fight to undertake.
“It is always important to communicate with our people. Therefore, we must appreciate the president of the local government to build these notable projects.

“First, consolidating all federal agencies in one place means that people do not have to run from one office to another.
“Secondly, establishing this radio station and executing many other projects, including several roads and a market, is a real achievement.
“Residents must be excited to have a party and leadership capable of ordering infrastructure that some states cannot deliver,” he said.
Sanwo-olu said the state of Lagos was progressing under APC leadership. He said that the implementation of roads, primary health centers, schools, administrative blocks and other projects demonstrates the progressive governance of the party. He urged residents to join in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's mandate.
He reiterated that to defend himself and rely on that mandate, each resident must have a voter card. He encouraged those who still get his to do so once the registration begins.
He also emphasized that the prosperity of the nation depends largely on the reforms and policies of the president.
In his message of goodwill, the state president of APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, announced that the registration of voters would begin next month. He pointed out that Mushin's local government has the largest number of voting units in the state: 547 in total.
The APC leader said the party awaits a strong electoral participation in the 2027 elections, projecting a minimum of 250 votes per unit of voting, so it represents approximately 136,000 votes.
However, he expressed concern that many APC supporters do not yet have permanent voter cards (PVC). He stressed that without PVC, even the most loyal supporters could not vote.
Ojelabi, therefore, urged residents to register and obtain their PVC.
“I am imploring all of you who are members of our party, and all citizens of the Mushin Local Government, which another opportunity is knocking on our door. We are going to take advantage of it and vote.
“We are projecting about 500 voters per unit of voting, and we expect a minimum of 250 of each. If multiply 250 by 547, you are looking at around 136,000 votes,” he said.
In his comments, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon stressed the importance of seeking advice in governance, stating that wise advice and expert ideas are crucial for informed political decisions and receptive leadership.
Also speaking, the governor's cabinet chief, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, praised the Hon. Bamigboye to execute projects aligned with the issues+ state agenda, which according to him had proud to the lakes.
He added that the state government was satisfied with Bamigboye's performance and expressed the hope that his successor would be based on his achievements and delivered even more.
In his speech, the president of the Council, Hon. Bamigboy, urged residents and beneficiaries to make the maximum use of facilities, stressing that public infrastructure thrives when citizens see themselves as custodians.
“Allow me to assure everyone that this newly chosen administration will continue the great work and will continue to offer more projects that impact life. Together, we will build a Mushin that establishes the rhythm for progress, inclusion and sustainable growth,” he said.
Bamigboye added that the projects were the result of careful planning, prudent resources management and a commitment to people's well -being.
“We understand that good roads relieve transport and reduce travel time. We know that quality education begins with the next classrooms.
“And we recognize that a healthy community creates a peaceful and pleasant life. That is why these projects received the highest priority,” he said.
In his welcome speech, the vice president and incoming president of the local government of Mushin, Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, recognized the responsibility that comes with the construction or rehabilitation of the infrastructure. He urged residents to remain committed to maintaining the facilities and make sure they are accustomed to their maximum potential.
