Some natives with disabilities in the territory of the Federal Capital (FCT) have appealed to the Government for the economic, cultural and social empowerment of more than 3000 people who live with disabilities to alleviate poverty and put an end to street beggars between them in Abuja.
Acting under the umbrella of the original inhabitants with disabilities, the group made the appeal in an advisory forum on the status of its difficult situation on Saturday in Kuje, it abuses.
The president, the original inhabitants with disabilities in the FCT, Festus Yakubu, revealed that FCT has more than 3000 original inhabitants with disabilities that are native to various physical challenges in the six FCT area tips.
Some of these people have a physical challenge with conditions such as visual disability, amputated weapons and legs, hearing and disability, among other challenges.
Yakubu emphasized the need for the physically challenges to be culturally, socially and economically empowered.
He appealed to the political elites in the area to adhere to the disability law that was signed during the previous administration of former President Muhammad Buhari to allow them to have a good livelihood instead of begging street.
A laboratory scientist, Adiko Musa, whose amputation was caused by an accident in 2014, narrated how unemployment has made him a shoe.
The Coordinator of the North Center, the National Joint Association of people with disabilities, Comrade Maikumo and the president of the FCT chapter of the same association, Comrade Joseph Wakili requested the rehabilitation of people living with disabilities in the territory.
For her part, the president of the Association of Traditional Rulators of the FCT and the wife of Ona de Abaji, Hajiya Hawa Adamu, promised to review more for her cultural and political inclusion in the FCT.
The theme of the advisory forum is “to promote the cultural, social and political economic rights of the original FCT inhabitants with disabilities organized by a non -governmental organization of the Arthur Foundation.
