The senators on the platform of the Labor Party have dismissed the comments attributed to the Governor of the State of Edo, the senator on Monday Okpebholo, who warned the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, to visit the state of Edo without officially notifying it.
The LP of the Caucus Senate dismissed the outbreak of Governor Okpebholo as an executive skid show.
The Caucus of the LP Senate, in a statement issued last night and signed jointly by Senators Victor Umeh, Ireti Kingibe, Ezea Okey and Tony Nwoye, affirmed the statement of Governor Okpebholo that Peter Obi’s security was not guaranteed in the South-South state was a threat in life.

While the legislators urged “the inspector general of Police and the Director General, the services of the State Department to take note of this threat,” they said that the Constitution grants the freedom of movement and expression of the LP candidate as all Nigerian citizens, and should not be “reduced by the lack of executive law and impudence.”
The statement says: “The attention of the Caucus of the Labor Party Senate has been attracted by the disturbing and shocking declaration of threat made by the executive governor of the State of Edo, his excellence, the senator on Monday Okpebhol OKPEBHHOLO.
“We want to remind the Executive Governor of the State of Edo that section 41 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, according to amended, establishes freedom of movement and expression for all Nigerian citizens. Mr. Peter Obi is a citizen of Nigeria, and his movement is guaranteed and should not be reduced by the Executive Law and impudence.
“As a defender of democracy, construction of the nation and sustainable development, Peter Obi deserves protection and support of the law and all those who share the vision of a better Nigeria.
“We humbly urge the executive governor of the State of Edo to quickly withdraw this statement without surveillance that threatens the life, the freedom of movement of Peter Obi, the personal security and the tender of an apology without reservations to all the Nigerians for violating the Nigerian Constitution, which swore to defend.
“We implore and urge the Police Inspector and the General Director of the State Department of Services, to take note of this threat.
“The Nigeria of this century cannot afford the luxury of tolerating the executive scope and the abuse of offices by public officials for the peace and harmony of this beloved country, Nigeria.“
