Oyo Government, ex-people urges retirees to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle

Retirees have been urged to adopt active and healthy lifestyles to maintain physical and mental well -being, prevent premature aging and combat isolation.

The Head of Service of the State of Oyo, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, MNI and former Secretary of the State Government/Head of Service, Chief Adebisi Adesola, gave the position on Thursday during a place of meeting of the elderly organized by the Association of Head of Remove Service and Permanent Secretaries of the states of Oyo and Osun held in the Iita, Ibadan.

The head of service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni said that the government of the state of Oyo is committed to improving the well -being of her retirees.

She made the statement through the permanent secretary, office of the Head of Service, Mr. Audu Akeem.

The Head of Service celebrated retirees for their contributions to the progress of the civil service in Oyo.

She asked them to remain productive to enjoy satisfactory retirement.

During the event, which was witnessed by more than 90 members of the Association, the Adebisi chief stressed the importance of the commitment after retirement and assured continuous support retirees.

Chief Adebisi, who bends as president of the association, said that activities such as volunteer, exploring new hobbies and participating in community events help retirees to remain physically fit, mentally stimulated and socially connected.

In addition, the president of the Organizing Committee, Chief Bayo Oyero, said that efforts such as participating in community events contribute to a higher quality of life, a greater sense of purpose and a more satisfactory retirement.

“I will urge us to stay and maintain a tab on our health. Regular controls will avoid so many old age diseases. To avoid aging and premature isolation, we participate in significant activities and visit our doctor regularly,” said Oyero.

He described the event as a modest gesture of gratitude, recognizing the role played by retirees in the civil service of Oyo.

Previously, Dr. Augustine Okesola delivered a conference on “understanding oral health: beyond teeth.”

He postulated that good oral health is linked to general well -being and can prevent systemic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, highlighting the mouth as a critical point of entry to understand and improve general health.

Dr. Okesola advised retirees to keep regular dental checks, practice constant daily brushing with fluorine toothpaste and dental thread, and handle the dry mouth keeping hydrated and using saliva substitutes.

In addition, it recommends a balanced diet, leaving tobacco to prevent gum disease and oral cancer, and address problems such as worn or missing teeth with treatments such as crowns, implants or postparts.

The highlights of the event was a tour of Iita facilities and the presentation of octogenerary awards to three members of the association.
