The Popular Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government of Oluyole has begun the basic mobilization to encourage residents to participate in the permanent voting card registration (PVC) of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) (INEC).
Speaking at an extended meeting of interested parties held in the Secretariat of the Council in Idi-Ayunre, the executive president of Oluyole Lg, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, accused of leaders and party members, to set aside personal interests and work in the unit to strengthen the PDP before the next national congresses and future elections.
Olatunji emphasized that the registration of voters remains the basis of political participation, urging members to educate residents, especially voters and young people for the first time, about the importance of obtaining their PVC.
According to him, *“It is not just about Oluyole alone, but about the future of our party and our state. The only way we can ensure victory is whether each eligible citizen registers and collects their PVC. Without that, all our efforts will not be equivalent to anything.
“This is the time to put aside all forms of personal political interest and aspiration. The only interest that matters now is that of the PDP and the agenda of transformation in the course of its excellence, Governor Seyi Makinde,” said* Olatunji.

The president, who reaffirmed the total alignment of the local government with the vision of Governor Makinde for inclusive governance, said the PDP in Oluyole remains united and committed to providing mass support to the political direction of the governor.
Olatunji warned against the imposition of personal ambitions or interest interests, insisting that such trends could weaken the collective force of the party, saying: “Every decision made by the governor on behalf of the party has been in line with the aspirations and interests of the PDP, particularly in Oluyole LG.”
He asked leaders to Ward and Zonal levels to bury divisions and personal complaints, emphasizing that *“Personal ambition should not cancel the collective interest and political direction of the governor.
“Our collective force is at the base. That’s where the elections are won. As leaders and interested parties, it is our duty to mobilize our people to register, revalidate and be prepared to vote when the time comes.
“The PDP is stronger when we join, and this impulse of mobilization is a way of showing our commitment to the progress of the party and absolute loyalty to the governor’s vision.”
Olatunji, however, said that the success of the PDP at the national and state level would be determined by the level of mobilization and unit achieved in the Ward and local government structures.
He also congratulated the governor for his leadership and coordination, which, he said, led to another resounding victory in the partial elections of the northern constituency of Ibadan.
Olatunji, who attributed the past electoral losses of the PDP in the federal constituency of northern Ibadan to the internal divisions, praised the governor for claiming the seat for the party. He described the constituency as one of the most critical in the main city of Ibadan, noting that “the PDP has finally recovered one of its strengths after almost 15 years (2011-2025) to lose it to the opposition.”
Previously, the president of the PDP in Oluyole LG, Alhaji Mukaila Akingbola, praised the Olatunji approach for political leadership and governance, which he has continued to silence the opposition elements in the area.
He stressed that the governor’s vision for the good and democratic government should serve as a meeting point for all the faithful of the parties.
He also urged members to take seriously the ongoing PVC registration, describing it as the strongest tool for political participation and electoral victory.
The interested parties present at the meeting applauded the leadership of Olatunji and promised to replicate the mobilization efforts in all the rooms. They also resolved to launch door -to -door awareness campaigns to ensure that an eligible resident is not left behind in the registration exercise.
The meeting, which attended the executives of LG and Ward, elders of the party, young leaders and women, as well as neighborhood presidents, ended with a firm commitment to intensify the mobilization in the 10 political neighborhoods in Oluyole LG.
Interested parties also promised their support for the current reforms of Governor Makinde and promised to deliver a massive voting participation for the PDP in future elections.

Depo Oyedokun (former member of the House of Representatives); Excmo Waheed Akintayo (which represents the constituency of the state of Oluyole in the tenth chamber of the Oyo State Assembly); Eng. Ayuba Balogun (former commissioner); Excmo Lukman Salau (former member of the State Assembly); Excmo Kehinde Aberte (former president of Oluyole LG); Excmo Olumide Akinlala (SA to the Governor on the federal constituency of Oluyole and the former president of the Council); Excmo Tunde Ayoade, among others.
