Three members of the Chamber of the Assembly of the State of Taraba, representing the opposition parties; The new Popular Party of Nigeria (NNPP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), joined the ruler Popular Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.
This dropout has increased the force of the PDP in the assembly to 16 members, while the Congress of all progressives (APC) has eight seats.
Excmo Umar Adamu, who represents the state constituency of Jalingo 1, and Zakari Sanusi of the IBI constituency abandoned the NNPP, while the Hon. Anas Shaibu, which represents the constituency of Karim 2, deserted of the APGA.
In their individual letters, legislators declared that their decision was made after extensive consultations with their voters.
They cited the performance and leadership style of Governor Agbu kefas as significant factors in his choice, expressing the desire to align with the PDP to better serve his communities and contribute to the development of the State.
During the plenary session, the deserted members reiterated that their decision followed an exhaustive consultations with interested parties, political associates and components.
The president of the house, John Bonzina, welcomed the deserters and assured them the total support of the PDP and the Assembly, emphasizing the importance of unity and the collaboration for the benefit of the State.
While reading the letters of dropout of the legislators on the floor of the Chamber, Bonzina explained that this development reflects the desire of the members to contribute to the transformation efforts of the Governor Kafas in the state of Taraba.
